A Pile of Milkcrates is an ongoing social communication and engagement practice by Tracy Wong, based in Hong Kong. The works across community engagement, participatory design, and research-led communication, supporting social and cultural projects through collaborative visual and spatial methods .
The name “Milkcrates” refers to everyday objects that are practical, adaptable, reusable, and shared. It reflects a way of working grounded in everyday life, where design becomes a tool for organising social relationships.
Projects often take the form of workshops, exhibitions, publications, site-based activities, and public engagement initiatives, developed in collaboration with designers, researchers, institutions, and community partners. The process focuses on translating user research and observations into accessible public communication.
